| you now all of those first nano tank ( not talking about the 55 ) should be on a different TOTM thread cause if i packed my 40 right now into a small 12 gallon cube or 15 gallon cube sure it would look amazing. not saying anything bad but a 40 is alot more work then a 12 gallon tank in terms of money stuff and time

| Totm is not about how hard it is to upkeep or how much money you have to spend. TOTM is here for people to recognize those with beautiful tanks. No matter how big or small. For you to say that someone isn't allowed to participate because they don't have a plethora of money to throw at their tank is unfair and wrong. TOTM is the way it is because everyone deserves a shot. And FYI nanos are not a walk in the park. Keeping a nano is much harder than most think. Water quality can go severely out of whack in a night. You always have to keep up tank maintenance (i.e. water changes etc.) or your tank will suffer. There is a reason people suggest to newbies to buy the biggest tank they can afford. 1. It takes longer for things like trates and phosphates to reach unhealthy levels in larger bodies of water and 2. Because we always want a bigger tank P.S. I think someone is a little intimidated lol just messing with ya Ian

| Hahahahaha i know its harder butt theres so much less to aquascape so of course its gonna look nicer i am just saying that they should have like a TOTM nano thread for tanks under 30 gallons

| I don't think my 220 is any tougher than my 125 and both were easier than my old 45 gal setup. Yes, it takes more time (and money) to fill, but a larger water volume is also more stable so, IMO, it is easier to maintain a stable tank so the corals do better. Also, once a tank is full of corals, I think more people would agree that a large tank looks more impressive than a nano tank, so nano tanks may be the underdog in TOTM voting because of their size. Just thought I'd point out that there are advantages and disadvantages for both small and large tanks. BTW - Nice tanks pictures everyone. I know that there are a few of us that are looking forward to putting our tanks up against the winner in the upcoming TOTY competition.

| Jealousy???? Nope! Just good hearted egocentric competition. Just so long as you all are just as magnanimous in defeat as I shall be in victory ![]() All kidding aside, it really is nice to see the pride everyone takes in their tanks. Good luck to all of us! |
