I think RB Mods have a loop hole because we are volunteers and are not Staff but I could be wrong. I want to see pictures of Becky's Tank that I am sure will never be ready. What an excuse, have another beer Becky it will look great! JK

RB staff disqualified? Thats BS. Tell him to get his tank posted right at the top. Just because hes staff doesnt mean anyone is gonna vote for him.

Even if he post a pic of his tank but doesnt enter it would be a good gesture.

well, next month could be like a "new start".

all we can do is hope that people enter their tanks. PM people, email then etc. that is the only way to get them to show some pics of their tank.

Reason for Nomination: The hell of it and updated photo time

Hi All,

First thanks to you all for the tons of help and advice I have had so far from everyone from the planning stages to the current running. The whole family loves to sit and watch the tank day or night (and yes I need to post a photo of the moonlights on).

Anyway here we are 3 months in.... close ups of a few, of the 8 corals in the tank and then 2 tank shots. In the tank are: 2 blue chromis, 2 clowns, 1 scooter, plus a CUC of electric blue legged hermit, 3 scarlet hermits, 3 astria snails , 1 margarita snail, 1 turbo snail, 3 emerald crabs and 3 peppermint shrimp oh and a small sand sifting star. Plus all those random little creatures I keep asking everyone about.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures and would love to be in the running for TOTM

Sorry only one of them turned out...hard to take a moonlight picture that shows off the moonlights and getting the camera to work well in the dark. Got the moonlights off of Ebay, came with a cool computer that does all the moon cycles. So as the moon waxes and waines (sp?) the lights are brighter and darker. It is really great from Fishbowl innovations Pages. If I get the camera to work a little better I will post more but that moonlight shimmer is just so cool just like night diving.

After reviewing the rules there is nothing stating how long a tank must be running. I would like to encourage everyone to enter as we have seen with elloitt how his tank has changed over the months he has been envolved.


What determines the Tank the Month?
TOTM is based on a simple nomination system. The five Tanks with the most nominations within the month are entered into a final poll. All registered members are then able to vote for their favorite tank amongst the five final modifications.

1. Global Guidelines
   1. No rallying whatsoever is allowed either internally at reefbuilders.com or externally. Any evidence proving this will result in disqualification.
   2. Any complaints/questions should be forwarded via Private Message to the RB Administrators.
   3. If a candidate wins, the candidate is not eligible to enter the Board of the Month contest for another 12 months.
   4. All nominated Tanks must be a RB member, Any tanks that go against this rule will be disqualified immediately.
   5. Reef Builders Staff may NOT nominate/second a tank.
2. Nomination Guidelines - The Board of the Month is run on a nomination system.
   1. Primary Nominations can only be made by the Tank Owner.
   2. Nominations must be seconded by at least another member.
   3. In the nomination thread, one may only nominate their board or second an already nominated tank. Any other posts involving anything else will be deleted.
   4. Nominations will be voided if it is not seconded.
   5. When nominating please post:
      • the member's username,
      • a short description of what makes your tank stand out from other tanks,
      • and a reason for nomination that will motivate others to second the nomination. Promotional text will be edited accordingly.
   6. If the nominated tank is not available at the time of creation of the poll the next nominee in line will be selected to take its place.
   7. Tanks that are in an active voting thread may NOT nominate themselves in the new Nomination thread.
   8. Every member may second up to a maximum of 3 nominated sites. All 3 seconds should be made in a single post. NOTE: Only the first post with a second will count.
3. Poll Voting Guidelines
   1. The 5 tanks that have the most seconded nominations will be placed in the poll in alphabetical order.
   2. The thread containing the poll will be closed to any replies to prevent influence.
   3. Voting is up to the voters; no one can force or rally a vote, please visit all nominated and vote for the best tank, not the tank that you are most familiar with. Please check for clause 1.2 of the Global Rules section above.
4. Voting/Nomination Dates and Deadlines
   1. Tank nominations will take place starting the first week of every month and ending on the last week.
   2. Board voting will take place the month after nominations have ended.

Thanks for all the great comments. It has been a long learning process over the last year and a lot of work and $$$ as we all know. I am getting ready next spring to move to what will be my final tank. I am going to be moving from the 90 Gallon Bow to a Starphire front pane 220 Gallon. With all of the experience gained from this first tank, there will be several changes. First change will be no equipment under the tank besides a 4 way oceanmotion device with a sedra pump running my closed loop. All other equipment will be plumbed through the floor to the basement making the tank virtually silent. It will also help with maintenance since everything will be right next to the RODI unit. The one thing I am not looking forward to is the actual move since the 90 will have to be drained, moved, and re-setup while getting the 220 ready to go. Definitely will be one of those all weekend projects
