Default someone please help

Hello all well I have a 75 gallon reef tank, and I had two clams one a coccra I believe thats the name and another one im not sure what species it is. Well the two clams shared the same peace of rock side by side for months and one day my little coccra clam had fallen off and did not look so good, well the next day it was dead and now my other larger clam is not opeaning up was it once did. My water levels are PH 8.0 Naritie 0 amonia .25 (i know alittle high I have helped that problem)and my temp is 75-78 salt 1.020. I also try to feed the tank DT phitoplantion once a week, and for lighting I have two fictures of PC so four 10,000k and four Atinics. Please if im doing anything wrong can some one help me. Thanks again

-Brian

There are a few things off with those parameters listed. Ammonia & nitrite should always read zero. A temp of 75 degrees is on the cold side. 78-80 degrees would be better. a SG=1.020 is low. It should be 1.024-1.026 for reef tanks. PC lighting is weak and you fixtures may very well not be providing enough light for your clams. Clams love light. Also, what are your alkalinity and calcium levels?

I agree with brian. Those ligthing fixtures you have are not enough for a clam, expecially over a 75.

Most corals, including clams, can survive in less than ideal conditions, but if too many less than ideal conditions exist, they can take a turn for the worse. You have have just ended up crossing that threshold. Or, they may have attracted some disease or clam eating pyramid snail. Have you checked the base of the clam shell for small snails or eggs.

Yes I have read about these snails and today I look around the clam and under it to see what I could find everything look good, and I raised the Ph to 8.4 and salt to 1.024 I also moved the clam to a another location of the tank. I will post some pics tomorrow of my aquarium. Im also feeding the tank zooplantion and phitoplantion twice a week now.

Thanks for all the help everyone

If I am reading this right, you added more salt to tank? or did you mix and airate it? adding salt directly to tank will do more damage to all inhabitants. Crocea clams are the only ones that I know of that can do good under pc's. So far I have to agree with everyone else + this If Halides are out of your bugdet, get some T5's. These light are high output, AND most corals, some stonies included can and will survive under these light. plus heat issues are at a minimal.

No I mix the salt and then let it sit for a while. Then added it to the aquarium.

woops, hit enter by accident.

Depth of the tank, depth the clams at before and after jump. When did you replace your bulbs last. With no nitrates you should feed every other day to every day with phyto plankton (not a lot) for the clam. Salinity was too low. Amonia really sucks for them, that could have been cause or result of death dependin on the timing.

Carbonate at 120-160ppm, calcium 360+(tops 425 ish). NO PHOSPHATES.
What other critters in tank?

Clams are filter feeders and help control nitrate. Im sure the ammonia doesnt help.
What did you do to try and fix this?
Tanks age?
How many fish?
Do you use filtered water?
Do you have a skimmer?
Whats used for water movement?
