I have two clams and I absolutely love and recommend them. I need to figure out how to resize my pics so that I can load them. No feeding required other than good lighting. I have Metal Halides and my clams love it.

Thanks Ollie! Here is another pic of another clam. Hope you like this one as well. I think my clams are just about my favorite thing in my tank.

clam's are really neat to have in you'r tank, they will also stay closed if you'r water quality starts to decline, remember these guy's are filter feeder's, and if you'r water is bad, then you'll know it, they will not open.

I have a cleaner clam, not much to look at but it helps the tank and it adds some life and movement to the tank... thinking about getting an oyster.

Here's a pic of my crocea clam right after I fist got a little over a year ago. It's doubled in size since and no longer gaping.

When making a crocea purchase from a LFS, what do you look for in a "healthy" (or, more likely to survive) clam? I have my eye on a gorgeous ultra purple 2.5 inch crocea, and it undulates a little. What if any is the significance of gaping vs closed ? Can any retraction of the mantle be acceptable, or is that a disqualifier? Please, folks, any tips on what to avoid or what characteristics are good to see. Thanks! Dr. Bob

I wouldn't be surprised if Krazy K pipes in for this question. He only has 4 clams! If not, PM him.

What is the smallest tank you would suggest for a clam, and are there any of the kind with mantles that don't grow huge? Or any that will just grow with their environment? Thanks

Thats the only reason they are good?

Because you can get them 2 for 5 ??

Why not say cleaner clams are good because you can add them to your sump and they will filter out nitrates, while also saying that they can be obtained very cheap...

Please think and read your post before posting it blind.
