Default clam types and placement in tank

hello, im looking to add new clams to my tank, but want to make sure i get the right kinds and put them in the right spot in my tank....i have a 6 inch clam in my tank right now, thats up on top of the rockwork, right under one of my halides, and he is doing great..but i would like to get two or so clams that are not blue or purple in color, i want maybe green or gold...and would like to place them in the sand if possible...i know certain types are better for this, does anyone have any recommendations..my lights aren't the strongest...i have a 180 gallon tank, with 3 150 watt AB 13k metal halides, and 4 96 watt power compact actincs....after seeing some of our fellow members tank pictures, i can say im truely jealous..hahah..and i want them...lol...

Tridacna derasa, squamosa, and gigas are best placed on the sand, whereas crocea and maxima should be placed in rocks. Clams do need a lot of light and you'd be pushing the limits on keeping a clam in the sand for a tank that tall with your lighting. Your best bet would probably be to keep a derasa or squamosa if you want to keep on in the sand. The best way of keeping one in the sand is to bury a flat piece of rock 1"-1 1/2" under the sand where you want the clam to be. This way, the clam should attach to the rock under the sand and stay put and be easy to move if you need to move it in the future.

i have a maxima placed about 6 inches from the water surface and its doing awesome...!!!...i just got a derasa clam today, and am going to try and put it in the sand directly under the halide...i feel i might be pushing it with only a 150 watt halide, but if i dont see it doing well in a day or two i will move it....wish me luck...
