Default New Zoas not opened still!

Hey all. I got some new Zoanthids & Ricordeas from Coral Fanatics and they are really nice looking. However, they came in last Thursday, and the Blue Zoas I got have yet to open up. You can see the stalks pulse a little int the water, but they won't open. The Dragon Eye Zoas just opened yesterday, so I'm still being patient, but should it take them this long to open up? Coral Fanatics keeps all of their corals under Metal Halides, and I have T5 lighting, so naturally I place the zoas high in the tank when they came in since I have lower lighting than what they came from. Any suggestions. I really needed some blue for my tank, and now they are the only ones that haven't opened up.

u're not alone! i have had similar experiences. i think we all take for granted of how "easy" zoas are. i have had some open five min. after placing in tank and ones that took 3 weeks to fully open. i have one now that been in the tank for over a month and the only thing i can see is a speck of orange. i think its reminding me that it is an animal and tlc should always be administered to all organisms in our tanks. good luck.

Just be patient. They probably need some time to adjust to the change in lighting intensity. But they will eventually open up.

Well, these guys must have not shipped well. They still never opened up and started to get algae on them. I have a 12 ga. JBJ that is basically a frag tank for now, so I decided to try out the Vitamin C dosing in that tank and move the troubled Zoa colony over there. just before I moved the colony, 1 polyp finally opened up, but they still looked really bad....I moved them over to the nano tank after dosing pure vitamin c for a couple of days and making sure the PH was good. I continued dosing vitamin C for the next 2 days, and now I've seen 2 other polyps emerge....most of the others that looked bad have died and crumbled off, but there is not algae on the colony anymore. I will keep dosing the vitamin C until the colony recovers well.
