Default Can Zoanthids move themselves?

I have some Zoo frags. They are attatched to a small piece of rock. I noticed today that one fairly large frag had moved from where it had been sitting quite stably, to the bottom of the tank, off on the side, near the back of the tank. It was sitting there all opened up and happy it seemed. How could it have moved ? I would think that the rock it's on would anchor it. I know that anemonies move around until they find a place they like, but i wouldn't have guessed that these Zoos can. Or am i just nuts.? No one else moved it. I checked.

From what I have read, zoanthids can't move themselves. They can spread through asexual reproduction. It is possible that the frag was knocked over by something else. It happens fairly regularly. This is why though some inverts are supposed to be considered "reef safe" like Turbo Snails, they have a habit of crawling on things you don't want them to and knocking things over because they have not been secured to the rock.

just about all my leather corals mushrooms zoos all move if it has a foot on the bottom and isnt a stony coral it can move. Usualy it moves really slow over days or weeks to move just an inch or so. I have had them move into better current or out from a shadow of a nother coral. My large finger leather is moving off of the side of one rock and onto the flat shelf rock below its been 3 weeks since it started and still has some more to go.

no zoa's can't move, they grow out and spread, but they will not get up and walk a tank like aanenome can and will. if you find someone with a zoa that move's and isn't from being moved by someone in the tank or from flow you will become rich
