Default making zoos spread

over the past week or 2 i have been buying lil $5 pieces of zoos for my 29gallon cube. i love the way they look, all the different colors.

what i am wondering is...........what is the best thing to do for them to cause them to grow and spread?? what additives, what foods, etc??

sad thing is, i dont really have any test kits to check my water besides and electronic PH tester, my hyrdometer, and maybe an ammonia and copper kit. otherwise..i fly by the seat of my pants and do my water changes weekly. i'll add some of that KENT'S ESSENTIALS every now and then, maybe some PURPLE UP...i am afraid to add CALCIUM cuz it seems everytime i do that i lose a fish or something..makes me nervous...seems like doing a 5 gallon water change every week in a 29gallon cube that has probably 40lbs of rock plus live sand(wonder how much water is actually in there volume wise?)seems like that would replenish everything in the tank that the corals and fish need. is IODINE an essential element to add too??

Zoas are easy. Mine like to be at the top of the tank where there is the most light and the most current. 95% of it's nutrition is the light. You may feed zoas microplankton (cyclopeeze, zooplex). Zoas will grow in water with a higher nutrient load, but will also grow with perfect water (aim for perfect since you have a 29).

I don't feed any foods to my corals and my zoos spread like crazy. I've been trying to figure out a way to control them. In general, the more colorful the zoos, the pickier they are and the more light that they require.

i am going to take some pictures hopefully tonight, thats if the zoos are open, i am sure they need some time to adjust...they hadnt opened up last night after i put them in...i'll post them soon though..need to take some new pics of my tank with all the new fish and corals anyhow.

are zoos really that toxic to humans that just by touching them can cause a breakout? are we talking like a pice with 50 zoos on it or can just 1 do it? my hands seem to be working fine today and i touched them...DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE ANTI-ZOO JUICE RUNNING THRU MY BODY!! AM I LIKE A SUPER HERO???

Yes, expect to glow in the dark...and maybe consider not trying for more kids. We are talking mutants. lol If I were you, I would wash my hands after touching the zoas and consider it good enough for government work. If you were going to get sick or acquire a rash, I am sure you would have by now. Toxins are dependent on individual sensitivity.

MOST people aren't affected by touching zoos. Just wash your hands good once your done. I've heard of plenty of animals getting sick from eating zoos though while they are out of a tank during fragging time.

This is a very good article about different types of corals and zoos. It's interesting in that this guy suggests feeding zoos.

Light and some phytoplex works for me! Try and work on your methods...I tried the non test method and risking everything without testing...trust me it doesn't pay in the long run.
