Hydor releases “Marine Performer” Protein Skimmer

Hot of the heals of the Hydor Nano release, Hydor has released the Marine Performer protein skimmer for marine aquariums. The performer series features a quick disconnect “O” ring and a riser tube, features that are found on Euro Reef, Deltec, H&S, and Bubble King protein skimmers. No date for when your favorite online retailer or local fish store to have them in stock…yet.
Interesting. I’ve been wondering when one of the second-tier companies would release a higher-performing lower-cost skimmer. I guess it should come as no surprise the company is Hydor; their Koralia stream pumps are eating Tunze’s lunch. If they can get the manufacturing costs down and keep a reasonable quality level, these skimmers will do the same to Euro-reef/AquaC/etc.
