The new needlewheel pump that My Reef Creations has been working on has been touched at MACNA. The unit which uses a needlwheel design is said to get somewhere in the 2400 lph range. That option should cost you about $75 additional if you decide to add it. This unit isn’t shipping yet and finally GPH numbers are still being worked up. We do know that 2400 lph is mighty impressive for only $75.

I am really disappointed that this new skimmer was not demonstrated. I hear that the pumps and skimmers were built right before the show and they have yet to even be tested. with the height of their skimmers, I think MR has a poor understanding of how needle wheel skimmers work. There is no way that the blueline needle wheel can pump a reasonable amount of air at the height they expect.
