We had the good fortune to get a fairly thorough demonstration of Reefgeek’s prototype dimmable T5 retrofit kit. Fluorescent dimming has been around for a while but it was always quite a hassle to implement back in the VHO days. The dimming retrofit kit uses a controller with an Aqua Illuminators pedigree. Watch the two separate pairs of bulbs dim from 5 to 100% in 5% increments. The camera auto adjusts the intensity of the lights but at least the video gives you a sense of the smoothness of the transition. Lots more details in the video.

In the final version of the product the user will have the ability to control the intensity from 0 to 100% in 1% increments and the controller will include both an Automatic Mode and Manual Mode. In Automatic Mode the sun will rise and fall at user-determined times and in Manual Mode the light may be set to the desired intensity and color and turned on-off manually.
