AquaVIm lighting system which incorporates 150, 250 and 400 watt metal halides and T5 HO lighting might find its way over to the US, Canada, and the UK if AquaVim has their way. Available in several sizes including: 24″, 36″, 48″, 60″, and 72″. Models 36″ and higher that are 150 watt and 250 watt are said to have an internal ballast built into the hood of the lighting system, which we aren’t sure that is the route to go with all that extra weight right on top of your tank. The 400 watt models have an external ballast with a “heatsink” no-less to help keep things cool. Each system includes both metal halide and T5 HO bulbs, suspension kit and supporting legs. We don’t have any retail pricing for these new units so your going to have wait to buy these lights, you are eagerly waiting aren’t you?

Single ended bulbs, anyone use those anymore? Not unless they are 1000 watt.
I’m having a hard time deciding what kind of light fixture I want to light my new saltwater aquarium. I thought about going with the Fauna Marin system you mentioned in an earlier post, but you made this AquaVim system sound pretty appealing, too. Do you have any tips on choosing the best light for an indecisive novice? Thanks, Ava.
Jake, you’re way out of touch. I recommend SE lamps to all first time MH users, and many seasoned hobbists use these lamps. Maybe you should check to see what the industries lighting experts are using.

The Aqua Vim metal halide + T5HO combination reef light works great for my reef tanks. I got a 36″ unit 3 years ago, never had a problem, and I got a 2nd one, a 72″ 1360w unit. Aqua Vim reef lights, like the unique style aquariums it makes, are of the best quality I have ever had. I wished they could be less expensive, though.
