about Reef Builders

Reef Builders is an online community dedicated to reef tanks. Our popular reef blog informs reef hobbyists about popular reef equipment and the saltwater industry in general. We have discussion forums where you can talk about your reef tank, ask questions and receive help from reef community members. If you are just starting out in the saltwater aquarium world, reef aquarists have found that the Beginners Guide to Saltwater Aquariums and Tanks has been helpful in starting their journey towards reef keeping.

The new Mag-Flip 100 glass aquarium cleaner that you might have seen popping up at retailers across the country is getting mixed reviews from owners. While some users just loved the device others gave it a bad rep saying:”I have a 175 bow front and the mag-flip isnt strong enough to do a good job scraping. Maybe it will work better on smaller tanks but does not work well on the 1/2″ glass on my tank.” However another user liked the product and had this to say: “This is a great low profile glass cleaner. The plastic blade side is only marginally useful on coralline algae.” Coraline algae is hard stuff to remove especially with a plastic razor blade, something that the Mag Flip fails on. We will stick with our normal razor blade for now. You can pick the Mag flip 100 at all the usual places for around $38. Yikes! That’s expensive.

Is reefbuilders affiliated with Marine Depot? I’ve noticed you use a lot of MD content ie. images discriptions. Including product comments in this post.

    Just curious
