Warner Marine has been busy working on new and interesting things as of late. Their Elite series which looks like something out of Star Trek or Star Wars was priced by its maker. With over 45 minutes of CNC time being made from .25″ wall tube, and .50″ sheet cast acrylic. It is also made in the good ole USA so for you readers over in the European Union you can take advantage of the conversion rate for…now. The price? $3000. What does that get you? “It’s realistically rated for 2000 Gallons, it comes with dual Laguna (Askoll) 2000 needle wheels @ 2250LPH EACH for a total of 4500LPH of air flow.” In laymans terms it means it can skim the Atlantic ocean and have some left over for the Pacific. You won’t be able to order this anytime soon, pictured is the prototype and is the only one of its kind. We don’t even know if this skimmer will make it into production or not. We hope it will. We hear praying helps. So were going to start with that.

That probably won’t see production as the Korallen Zucht’s Revolution skimmer has recently been granted a patent… so who knows if anybody else will be able to legally produce this conical type skimmers…

A patent using a Needle Wheel I can see. A patent on a shape? Not so much. Conical neck skimmers have been made for decades. Just because KZ thought to bring the conical shape further down doesnt lend it any novelty. Nothing will change unless KZ wants to pony up the cash to sue the first big cone knickoff, ATB. The funny thing to me is that I have seen 20 ATB skimmers for every KZ I have seen. The price on the KZ skimmer is out of this world. It will probably be a year before anything changes.
