mini-reef-aquarium-nano

One of the biggest misconceptions in the saltwater industry is that if you have a nano you need to go “all out”. Some reef keepers do this and stuff a tank full of SPS, LPS and any other coral that you might find interesting. Thankfully, we have folks like mesocosm who can keep a Chrysiptera galba in a scant 10 gallon aquarium while tastefully displaying mushrooms, zoos and some select inverts in a manner that doesn’t say “me too”. Interestingly, this nano is an eclipse system aquarium while orginally made for freshwater, keeps a saltwater tank running smoothly with small water changes along with freshly mixed saltwater. Does anyone else enjoy keeping a nano aquarium?

I’ve experienced the very same thing! I have a 10g tank on my desk at work and with very little work it’s stays very healthy! As you can guess I have a completely decked out RKE controller on the tank. :)

Nanos only for me. Stuffed full of corals…no skimmer, no fuge, no sump, no nuthin…just rock, good light and water movement. Can keep almost any coral with a super simple setup like this.
