Advanced Lighting Solutions is proud to announce the worlds first twin arc metal halide lamp. The new bulbs include two separate arc tubes in the same lamp envelope. The bulb only fires up one arc tube at a time but it alternates between the separate arc tube each time it is ignited. So one go the bulb is spilling light from one arc and the next time it fires it is driving the other arc tube. Currently the bulb only comes In a 250w mogul base lamp with dual 20k arc tubes or with a 20k and a 10k arc tube. The dual 20k arc tube lamp should result Im greatly increased lamp life and the dual color twin arc lamp will allow the reefer to have 10k light for growth and 20k light for color in the same bulb. What can we say, friggin awesome! More details forthcoming.

Now this is interesting. I wonder if the inner envelope degrades from the heat when it’s not ‘on’ and the partner inner envelope is fired up. What an interesting idea!

Would be interesting to know that if one side burns out would the other side continue to work or would the bulb be done at that point

Which spectrum comes on first in the 10K/20K version. It would be pretty easy to sync up the bulb’s if say the 10K side alway’s ignited first. If it’s random as far as which spectrum ignites, then that would be an issue for me.

    Cheers,

My previous comment obviously concerns multiple lamp systems, Basically… if I had 5 bulbs, how would I get them all to startup(sync) the same (10K or 20K).

    Cheers,

To sync them– fire all bulbs. Unscrew whichever color had more bulbs fire (ie if 3 fired 20k, unscrew them). Fire the other bulbs one more time, then screw all the bulbs in. One extra fire won’t significantly impact the life of the bulb.
