The SunBright LED system is here at MAX and it is impressive. The SunBright lamps are the size and shape of the T8 lamp form factor but the lamps are loaded with up to 90 small LEDs per foot. Very nice. The SunBright crew is touting 300 PAR over 12 spread at 24 deep and the reasonably priced kits will be hitting the streets in April. The system can be had as individual lamps or complete systems with integrated light controller / timer. Click the read more link for more pictures.

I added (3) actinic Current Powerbrite lights to the back of my (14) bulb Constellation T5 fixture to test out LED’s and see if I get the “pop” and shimmer from (12) 1 watt leds and I did and am thrilled. I would love to add or replace my setup with these. My question is, what type of bulb fixture are they housed in? If I buy a couple of the bulbs without the fixture, what do they work with? T5 fixtures, T8, T12, what?
.
Thanks in advance
Jeff
Ant idea on price, and also interested in interface….cmon guys back to their booth!!!
You can buy them individually or purchase up up to eight in the fixture. If you retro fit them without the hood you just put a hot one one side an a neutral on the other with any pigtail. You can run the side in series. I’ve been using them for several months. Great LED systems. Blows away the competition.
what does anyone think about the applicability on a large (96×24x30deep) reef tank?

hey i am so interested in a 48” fixture where can i place an order…
I purchased a complete set of seven Sunbrite LEDs for my aquarium about a year ago. First of all, I would like to say “Don’t waste your money”. The White LEDs start fading after only about three months. I would estimate approximately a 30% loss in output over the three month period, which in LED terms, means they are spent. Over the last year, three of the LED bulbs (22000k, 16000k, and 12000k) have completely burned out. Only a few LEDs still light on those bulbs – these rest of the LEDs are burned out completely. The other two 6500K bulbs I purchased have dropped in output by about 50%, even though all of the LEDs still light up. The Blue (470mm) and Purple (440mm) both seem ok – there does not appear to be any drop in output and all LEDs still light up.
In general, I would say Sunbrite LEDs have some serious issues with their White LED Aquarium lights. Needless to say, the affect on my aquarium has not been good. I supplemented the lighting with some T5’s to keep everything alive. Just to see how long the Sunbrites would actually last. Without the T5’s all of my hard and soft corals would be dead. Well, I found out – the white Sunbrite LEDs really only last about three months, and are complete dead in about a year. The colored ones have been working fine for about a year. We’ll see how they hold up in year two.
