With the current trend of stuffing LEDs into tubes to get around patent issues, we bring you the Lumen Aqua Ocean line of LED lighting coming straight from Royal Aquarium. The fixture can either be mounted from your ceiling with the included hanging kit or be put atop your tank with the legs. Those LEDs produce around a 12,000 kelvin color temperature and the Lumen Aqua Ocean says to produce 6400 lux with a 50cm (19.6″) deep tank. You’ll have access to on/off switches which will control the separate blue and white LEDs eating up 80 watts max if you choose to have them both on. The 48″ model retails for $1650, the 36″ version $1250, and finally the 24″ model comes in at $899.99. Available now and if you happen to pick one of these up, let us know.

Interesting but I believe these use RGB LEDs so if you adjust the colour temperature to be suitable for a reef tank I think you will lose on output and PAR. Probably not as good as using dedicated cool white and royal blue LEDs I would also like to know what the filtering system is. Looks like it might have a polarizer so that again will cut down some the light transmitted to the tank.
