ati-sunpower-3

The ATI sunpower T5 lighting system which has been extremely popular for its performance and price has been getting some grumbling from users as of late. Mainly the system uses two fans that are designed to cool the T5’s that run inside the unit. However, the fans seem to run all the time when they are plugged in regardless if they lighting unit is on or off which has some users wondering why the unit is burning through electricity when the lighting is indeed off. All is not a lost cause as some owners have connected the fans (which use a separate plug) into their favorite controller so that the fans turn on when the lights do, hows that for smart thinking? Still it would be nice to see ATI include a simple controller so that the fans turn on when the lights are actually on instead of having to connect it to our controller. That would cost all of $15. Wishful thinking we know.

Seriously? People are complaining about this? I have an Sunpower fixture and hooked the fans up to a cheap timer – “problem” solved. This fixture is ATI’s budget fixture so I can’t understand why people are taking issue with the lack of an included “controller”.
