After more than two years of development and testing Cerameco is proud to introduce a complete line of ceramics called “vida rock” for the reef aquariums. The synthetic aquarium rock is available in familiar shapes like pillars, shelves, branches and more. We’ve just received a sampling of their Vida Rock and we are impressed with the complexity of shapes and the porosity of their clay mix; a few of the pieces were surprisingly light. Currently the Vida Rock is only available from a few retailers and it should sell for $5-6 a pound. Ceramic is a highly desirable medium because unlike even the best live rock or concrete/aragonite structures, ceramic will not degrade or dissolve after long term exposure to biological acids like those produced by encrusting organisms. Cerameco also makes large ceramic reef structures akin to those which were formerly available from Reef Ceramics and we’ll have more to tell you about that real soon. Follow the break for a full photo sampling of the Vida Rock with shapes and weights (in grams).

Looks like those man-made pumice stones you see in the beauty section of supermarkets.
