It would appear that Live Aquaria has secured a catch of Candy Basslets or otherwise known as Liopropoma carmabi. These fish are visually striking and make a nice addition to any reef aquarium. I will have to say these are my favorite species of fish bar none, except maybe clipperton angelfish, but then again who doesn’t like those? If you have the funds to snap the candy basslet up then you can do so for a low price of only $899 which isn’t that bad considering the few lucky souls that actually keep one of these in their tank.

A fine candidate for captive breeding…according to Wittenrich they’ve had decent luck pairing up and spawning the various Liopropoma species, and all it takes is someone to crack the rearing. What group of fish to target. Crack something relatively affordable like Swissguards (a feat in itself) and then Bam – a few Candy Basslets and you actually COULD see a nice little financial bump! Given how rare these are, perhaps better to start long term planning and collect broodstock now!
