Now, we will admit that we do like limited edition items but this is the first time we have seen it apply to something in saltwater aquaria. The Euro Reef BBE180 is a limited edition protein skimmer and only 19 of these units have been produced. With Euro Reef adding: “fabricated with the highest quality cell cast sheet and extruded acrylic tube material in combination with custom designed CNC and mold injected acrylic and PVC parts. Incredible attention to detail is poured into each of these handmade skimmers along with the pride of each of the skilled craftsmen that assemble them.” The skimmer will handle a medium bioload of up to 180 gallons and retails for about $300. Acutally, Sunlight Supply released a limited edition Tek light a couple years back. It had a blue housing as opposed to a black one.

I got a chance to see these in person. The workmanship is excellent. I cannot wait to see one actually working. They blow away these Chinese skimmers with problem impellers. You can get a awesome skimmer for a fair price built right here in the good ole USA!!!!!!!!!! From a company that actually backs their product!

Todd are you sure these are made in america? I know at least some of euro-reefs are made in china. I was supposed to be a beta tester for their nano skimmer and one of the reason they gave us for the delay was something like they were having problems getting samples from China. Would be really nice if they were made here though. I would buy a American skimmer even if it was slightly more in price, Probably not this one though.

whats special about it? it looks like a regular old ER to me, maybe i missed something. i just see nothing to compete with the skimmers that have come to market in the time since the ER was released.

GenX pump, not any better than an attmann, no silencer, no bubble plate what’s limited?

    Hi Dave,
I know the skimmers are made here. The pumps I am sure are not, as I do not know of anyone at this time making a submersable pump here in the USA. One that has the specs needed for a great skimmer pump anyway.
What makes it a Limited Edition…..I do not know. When I saw them I was not told they where a “Limited Edition”.
I can say the workmanship was excellent, a real beauty………..

Limited edition just means they are making a limited amount of them. Doesn’t mean that they are better or exceptional.

Seems like a good deal for a ER 180g skimmer…just add your own gate valve…
