GS2 Cone Skimmer

GS2 Cone Skimmer

GSA (Grey Sea’s Aquatics) launched their new cone skimmer recently and we thought you might like to know more about this new guy. The cone skimmer is aptly named GS2 and features some nifty features including: the cone design, slotted diffuser plate to reduce bubble turbeluence and GSA mentions that unlike every other cone skimmer on the market the diffuser plate is below where the cone starts, which “allows the full cone for contact time” with water/air.  The skimmer will take up a footprint of 9″ x 13″ in your sump and can take up to 2 pumps which allows its to handle up to 300 gallons on a heavy bioload. You can purchase this pump for $279 and includes free shipping for a limited time.

An a la carte skimmer! I like it, need to replace a skimmer? still have some kickass pumps? Why bother buying new ones when you don’t have to.

Now if the skimmer worked as well as advertised that’s the true question.

Looks like a nice skimmer, but I’d rather have my skimmer, and pump (and venturi if necessary) perfectly matched. Takes out a lot of the guesswork as to why my skimmer may not be working optimally. At least they have a list of recommended pumps though…

Looking forward to seeing the specs on the GSA-1…

BTW: Their Kalk Reactor clearance is a fantastic deal. $169 for a Kalk stirrer? Nice…If I did not already have one I wouldn’t hesitate.

Almost all of my hardware is from GSA. Kalk-stirrers, media reactors, CA reactor, skimmers. Even my sump – but don’t ask, he won’t make one. I started reefing about the time he started making hardware. My GS2 just arrived – trying to decide which system to grace with its presence.
