fish eggs

Not sure if we should be bothered about feeding fish eggs to fish, it’s kind of like feeding children to people, but that hasn’t stopped Rod’s Food from developing a new frozen fish food formulation called simply ‘Fish Eggs’.  Two other new blends we expect Rod to show off at this weekend’s MACNA include Pacific Plankton (Euphasia sp.) and Seaweend Blend for the vegetarian fish crowds. The addition of Pacific Plankton to the full line of frozen fish food reflects the addition of the Euphasia sp. Pacific Plankton to the original Rod’s Food, the Herbivore and the Fish Only blends to increase their content of “desirable omega 3 fatty acids” and increased color enhancing from the high concentration of Astaxanthin, a vibrant orange pigment. We suspect if they haven’t already, these new foods will start shipping some time after MACNA.

Man, it is awesome that somebody is offering fish eggs in a ready to use form. Jake any ideas on what species of fish they are from?

You can bet that it’s not clownfish eggs! Matt your guess is as good as mine, we’ll know for sure in a few days.

More great products from Rod. My fish go nuts for those eggs and the Pacific Plankton is perfect for spot feeding LPS.

To be honest,I am not 100% certain of what species the eggs are from anymore. I did know when I first started using them years ago. I was given the scientific name that didnt ring a bell, but it was a saltwater species. After using them for awhile I didnt really care, because I liked the results that I was seeing. We started adding them to our blends and have now decided they are worthy of being packaged separately from the blends. A recent phone call to my supplier revealed that they are “little orange ones LOL”. I am hoping to be reminded of the species soon.
