The Fluval G filtration system finally gets outed with high quality pictures. Finally. As it has only taken Hagen 3 months a few months to finally give up the goods. This Fluval G filter is being pushed by Hagen as the next generation filtration system. Let’s not forget that this Fluval G filter comes at a premium as Hagen is expecting you to dump over $400 for this system. In the saltwater/marine world that might be okay, but for a fancy canister filter equipped with a LCD Screen? I don’t see that many aquarists willing to part with their hard earned money.
Hagen is playing up the “Fluval G’s Hydrotech Performance Monitor” which is being billed as “an intelligent system capable of monitoring vital functions such as flow rate, conductivity and water temperature, while displaying results in numerical and graph format as well as providing maintenance alerts on the interactive LCD screen.” It’s supposed to remind you when water changes are needed, something that shouldn’t be needed on a marine system.
We will have more coverage of the Fluval G in a few more days. Stay tuned.

No canister filter has ever had the quick access feature of the most needy filter cartridges, the mechanical and chemical filtration. I just wish this thing had a built in heater and then it would be truly an all in one kit. Damn you UL listings!
The thing with an all in one unit though is they tend to go the way of cell phones, sure they can do everything under the sun but they can’t do any one of those things REALLY well.
wow…what a waste of R&D. Is this what hagen thinks customers want? Is there even a viable market for these things? I thought canister filters were heading the way of the dodo long ago…
I wonder if the replacement part side of the “G” will be as profitable as their other canisters.
But will it back-up my hard drive?
I’ve just confirmed that it does play doom. /sarcasm
The success of this filter will be riding very heavily on price, hopefully the US pricing is not a direct equivalent of the UK pricing.
Now if they add a UV light then maybe it could be worth the money!
