Coralmorphologic (one of our advertisers) is packing up corals right. They brought to the show a bottle of oxygen. This is a great idea which allows the corals you purchase to stay healthy longer. Most coral vendors are are usingĀ  normal air to tie and close corals, which is okay for short period of time. But don’t expect your corals to survive for a long period. This is something that I would like to see more of in the future of other vendors which benefits the corals and the customers buying the corals.

Just this month there was an article in Advanced Aquarist about “dry shipping” (dumping water at the airport while you take coral with you) with quite impressive results. So do the corals go into a “stasis” when out of water that makes the need for O2 not as critical as when they’re bagged up?
