The Sandpoint Wave2 wavemaker is such a perfect piece of analog pump control that it makes us really sad that contemporary wave simulating devices didn’t follow in it’s footsteps. This Wave2 unit was brought to Fragstock 09 in Denver CO this past weekend by Enlightened Corals and as a collector of antique aquarium wares, it was simply delightful to see that this unit was in use and perfect working order. In this case the Sandpoint Wave2 was only being used for it’s filter pump feed function, one press of the feed button and the designated filter pump goes off for an adjustable period of time.  The two front facing outlets are intended to control a left to right wave action and although this puppy will likely not produce any true harmonic wave effects, this side to side pump control is perfect for producing mass water movement and gyre flow in reef tanks. Flow on, Sandpoint Wave2 wavemaker, flow on.

That is very slick and something to be said about robust “analog” devices from the past. Any idea on when this product was on the market?

I will definitely be on the lookout for one of these in the clearance bins of old timey LFS.

When I find another working unit, I’ll send you ours Jake. The Wave Point we were using has to be about a decade old. Amazingly reliable little device.
