vortech mp10 flowrate

Dana Riddle is one of the most important researchers in our hobby and we are proud to have our thunder stolen about reviewing the VorTech MP10 with the super review that he has published in Advanced Aquarist Online Magazine. In his review of the MP10, Dana really pulled out all the stops to measure flowrate, heat production, energy consumption, footprint and on and on. In Dana’s own words:

In a day of product hype and hyperbole, it is refreshing to find a product that delivers more than it promises. Our testing found that the MP10 maximum flow rate exceeded the manufacturer’s claim, and all other advertising points were reasonable.

We’ve been using the MP10 for months now and reading Riddle’s review of the MP10 taught us a few things about this pump that we had not noticed. Two big thumbs up to Dana for this very high quality review with real actual data to support his positions. We’ll be posting our own MP10 review soon with focus more on the quality of the flow than the quantity but in the meantime, all MP10 owners can rejoice knowing their pumps are pushing about 20% more than we all thought. We strongly encourage current and prospective VorTech MP10 owners to take a look at the review article by Dana Riddle and while you are there, be sure to give a read at some of the other fine articles in Advanced Aquarist this month.

Bravo on the graph Jake (or is that Dana’s?) in making it seem a lot more than it is by not zeroing the y axis :)

So do the other ones work better than advertised too? :D

Yeah Dana’s vertical axis starts off a bit high but give him credit for at least having it clearly labeled.
