It sure looks likes Hydor is set to launch a new set of  Koralia pumps soon. A recent ad has appeared in CORAL magazine that sheds some light on the “new” pumps. They are said to be a shaft-less design with 50% less energy (compared to what we would like to know) and come in 3 new models 750gph, 1050gph, 1400gph. Is this a new Hydor Koralia or is it just a new marketing trick?

Thanks Joey!

As much as I like reduced energy what I really want to see is increased flow while staying as compact as possible yet staying in their standard pricing range.

The K8 ain’t bad and does give flow (on paper) up there with a Tunze or Vortech pump, but still…

I heard this about six months ago. From what I understand they are making smaller “Magnums”. If you’ve ever looked at their Magnum series pumps they already have a shaftless design. I currently run magnums with my RKE. Their Magnum pumps are a great design using as much power as the Korlia 4’s with much stronger flow. One would assume using the Magnum design on a smaller scale would use less electricity. Kudos to Hydor. ( I also heard that the price point would not be that much different than the current Koralis) That of course is to be determined.
