fauna-marin-lith-filter

Fauna Marin is testing a new Lith Filter that should be available sometime in 2010. This new filter features “high quality acrylic, dosing plug for ease of dosing Ultra Bio, built in flow control (no messy external ball valve)”, and the pump is easily removed from the base. A North Carolina Fish farm is the place to find the evaluation units and if all goes as planned you’ll be able to snag either a 1.5 liter or 2.5 for less than $200 and $249 respectively in January of next year. Now, if we just eliminate the constant “stirring” chore all together we’d really be happy campers.

The biggest aim with the new filter is to supply an affordable unit with quality.

The units will be commerically tested and if approved they will then be laucnhed by us.

I am happy to answer any questions ;)

I wonder if this device would be suitable for use with the Solid Vodka Dosing biopellets. Don’t see why the occasional stir couldn’t help those bacteria as well as Zeolithic ones.

It will finally be possible to build an all FM tank!

@ Jake – the only issue with your suggestion is the pellets going over the edge as it were and down the outlet.

The next step after this is fluidised filtration for Ultra phos, this then could potentially could be used for your purpose. I will let you know when it gets to that stage and send one your way for testing.

The next step for now is to see if the pump has legs! Thats the biggest criateria here, a pump has been chosen that has at least been through USA recognised safety testing (CASUSA) so that goes a long way for sure. But this is not being rushed it has to be right as fauna only put their name to quality.

Update – Just fired one up :)

Pump mega quiet, just a bit too powerful so we need to reduce the pump size down a bit.

Nice! I like the dosing port. A solution to the biopellets going over the edge is if you can pull the output tube out of the reactor’s uniseal and just put a piece of plastic mesh or other material over the top portion of it.

Yes that is possible but you must make sure the balls do not block the outlet otherwise you could create internal pressure and find the dosing bung taking a leap ;)

No just one, there is no need at all for two tubes in lith reactor.
